Stones resources

Our amazing creator God has created the beauty of nature for us to enjoy; for us to use and steward; for us to learn more about his character; and probably just for the sheer playfulness and fun of it all too!

God created nature to be a great classroom to teach children and adults about himself – it’s an easy place to catch glimpses of his glory, as well as the full panoramas.  He wrote us a book too, (the Bible), to go in this classroom; a manual which helps explain the world we know, and the me we know, and goes into more detail about God’s purposes in creation and reveals his Son Jesus.

Now the Bible doesn’t mention cars, washing machines, or MacDonalds but it does mention trees.  And it does mention water; and stones; and birds; and lions; and clouds.  And biblical theology is the fascinating discipline of structuring the Bible as it structures itself.  Looking at the themes that God has chosen to put in there for us – counting each word as being there for a reason.

A few years ago, while at theological college I ran some ‘outdoor kids exploration’ sessions where we looked at, touched, climbed, and decorated trees and generally did as much with trees as we could think of and then also at the same time read about what God says about trees.  And then the same with water, and clouds, and stones, and leaves etc etc.  And kids and their parents all really enjoyed it and it’s just one way of learning about God starting from what we see and touch and feel and smell and taste every day in the world God has given us.
