Posting a letter to our future

Posting a letter on the village green
About a week ago we were crossing the Village Green to take my middle daughter to nursery, and on the way back had to post an important letter to the aspirational middle class state school near where our new home is going to be in London.
It was the Supplementary Information necessary for the C of E school to assess the suitability of our family background and credentials of being “resident in the area” so they can decide whether our daughter will be selected for one of the highly oversubscribed places.
We had to sent the original of her birth certificate and in place of the usual utility bills and Council tax bills I hopefully included the original letter from the Bishop appointing my husband to the Parish adjacent to the school. A strange juxtaposition of two worlds is shown in this photo. God’s kingdom and the United Kingom! Well yes but also My Village Green in Hebburn and the new London ones; and neighbourhood marketing profiles and average incomes pinging off either end of the scales; and here is fairly homogenous and New Barnet is pretty diverse I understand.
But that would be to oversimplify things!

I love that one of the children got to post the all important letter. So right that they are all well involved in everything. God bless.
